Burkhard Kieker, head of VisitBerlin, says a city as successful a tourist attraction as Berlin, must do all it can to not let it become Disney-like.
Too late. Bummer. The latest means of getting to know the city is called Humvee-Sightseeing and goes like this: American tourists bring their own vehicle, preferably a 2.5 ton gas guzzler like the Chevy Avalanche, and drive by all the attractions shooting out of the windows never leaving their car.
Added thrill: Book a hotel in Mitte, Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg with your car parked out front. Get up next morning to take a bet whether your car was set on fire or not.
